Delivering high quality sports and physical activities in schools
Main Menu
It’s all about children working towards their own personal goals rather than it being a competition. Running a marathon is recognised by everyone as a massive achievement and Marathon Kids breaks this down in a way that makes it possible for everyone.
Marathon Kids have a better chance of achieving the recommended 30 minutes of daily physical activity in school time. It’s proven that children who have daily bursts of physical activity will perform better and show improvements in behaviour.
“Marathon Kids has definitely improved concentration, fitness levels and overall enthusiasm throughout the whole school. The children are also eating much more at dinner time because they are burning more energy and they are also concentrating much more in class because they are awake and switched on. Marathon Kids has been a positive investment for our school.”
Tom Bradshaw,
PE Coordinator, Gisburn Road Community Primary School
Marathon Kids works for any kid, at any fitness level. Kids set their goals and track their progress on a journey to complete four marathons, or 104.8 miles, over the course of the running club season. They run, walk, (or skip!) one lap at a time, one day at a time, and before they know it they’ve gone farther than they ever dreamed.
They learn how to fuel their bodies so they can run faster, better, longer. And for a little extra motivation, they earn fun Nike rewards at milestones along the way. They have a network of dedicated adults showing them how it’s done, and most importantly, a motivated and inspiring coach supporting them every step of the way
“I love running, and it’s given me and my family so much. As a dad, I know how important it is for my children to be active, and I’m honoured to have the chance to inspire kids to run with Marathon Kids.”
